Hi, it’s hmsmarim,
I’m going to talk about my best work in 3 of my classes.
Social Studies:
This trimester in Social Studies, we learned about Queen Liliuokalani and her overthrow. I chose the US Marines involvement, which they were against Queen Liliuokalani. I picked symbolism out of the three. The eagle was the US Marines, the Iolani Palace was Queen Liliuokalani, and the snow globe was resembling how Queen Liliuokalani had no power anymore.
These were the directions:
1. Pick an issue about the Queen’s overthrow (overthrow, Bayonet Constitution, Queen’s new constitution, Provisional Government, US Marines involvement).
2. Take a POV, either For or Against.the issue you picked on #1.
3. Use one, two, or all three writing elements:
– hyperbole
– sarcasm
– symbolism
4. Make sure it’s colored and done to the best of your ability for an A.
Language Arts:
In Language Arts, my best work would probably be my Group Reading Discussion paper/Group Reading Questions because I was with hmsmone and hmsleilani. We were assigned the book named “American Born Chinese” which is a graphic novel book. While we read the book, we had to think about thought-provoking questions, then discuss them as a group. I think our group did well communicating, though we had a hard time understanding what we needed to do.
This is what we had to do and the paragraph is my answers to all the questions below:
Group Reading Reflection
-
- Were you able to complete the readings on time? Why or why not?
- Comment on the book. What did you like? Dislike?
- About how many questions did you come up with?
- What percentage of your questions were thought-provoking?
- What were the high points of discussing your questions as a group?
- What are the aspects you would like to change about discussing your questions as a group?
- What percentage grade would you give yourself for your efforts?
The book that was given to me, Leilani and Mone was “American Born Chinese”. I completed the readings on time because we decided to read the whole book in one day. I liked how there were three stories in one that came altogether at the end, which made the book make even more sense. I didn’t like how there were little parts that didn’t all come together like how we didn’t know who Chin-Kee was really. I came up with about 8-9 questions and about 50% were thought-provoking. Some high points of discussing my questions as a group was that everyone listened and they took the questions into consideration. I would change anything, but one thing is they come up with questions and sharing all of them with each other. I would grade myself 95% because I tried my hardest but I think I could’ve put more questions on my paper.
Math:
In March, we started learning about probability and odds. The questions were from our math textbook and I got all the answers correct. The way we had to answer was like this: P(sum of 9 or 10)=7/36. This was sort of hard, but I got 100% on the worksheet, which is why I think is my best work in Math for trimester 3.
Thos are what I think are my best work for trimester 3!
